How long after sex would it be safe to remove the nuvaring?

I've been on the nuvaring for about 17 days now %26amp; the last time I had sex was 3 or 4 days ago. I find the nuvaring to be very uncomfortable %26amp; I would like to know when I can remove it completely. I don't plan to continue on with this method of birth control and I don't plan to have sex again until I am on another type. I'm just wondering if it's safe to remove it earlier than after 3 weeks.How long after sex would it be safe to remove the nuvaring?I didn't like it either.
