I just started my first pill this morning and I was wondering the same thing. My doctor told me to wait 2 weeks and my phamacists said 3. Also, it is said you can start almost immediately if you start the pill a day before your period which I did, but I'm waiting 3weeks to be safe!!! =)

Most birth contols pills require at least a month, but like they all say still use a condom to prevent STDs
Some are 7 days, some are right away if you start on the first day of your period or something like that. Usually it is 1 whole month, nothing less nothing more.

That's the point of them, and if you don't want to get pregnant I suggest you use a condom as it's still possible, and you don't sound very responsible to me, so I can see it all going wrong for you. It takes 2-3 months for your hormones to properly adjust to the birth control pill. Wait that long to have unprotected sex, and get tested with your partner if you havent already before stopping use of condoms.

It depends on how your body absorbs the hormones, as well as which point in your cycle you started the pills. The be on the safe side, it's often recommended to wait a full cycle on the pill before relying on it completely. In the meantime, continue to use condoms. Also, if you and your boyfriend have never been tested for STIs, I would highly recommend that before ditching the condoms.
