Who was the first theorist to distinguish between sex and gender?

Sex being our biological difference and gender being the way we behave.Who was the first theorist to distinguish between sex and gender?"gender c.1300, from O.Fr. gendre, from stem of L. genus (gen. generis) "kind, sort, gender," also "sex" (see genus); used to translate from Gk. Aristotle's grammatical term genos. As sex took on erotic qualities in 20c., gender came to be used for "sex of a human being," often in feminist writing with reference to social attributes as much as biological qualities; this sense first attested 1963. Gender-bender is first attested 1980, with reference to pop star David Bowie."

Well it was first used by feminists in 1963, now you know where to start looking. Sorry I don't feel like digging for that fact. I'm not a big fan of the social engineering being attempting by adulterating the meaning of the word gender, or the confusion they have created about sexual imperatives.Who was the first theorist to distinguish between sex and gender? The first people to come up with this theory were social constructionists - in the sociological or philosophical fields. But I'm sorry, I don't know of any writers in particular :-)Who was the first theorist to distinguish between sex and gender? My Gosh too long ago. Wasn't ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle the one to conclude sperm was the key to pregnancy?Who was the first theorist to distinguish between sex and gender?

How can i have sex in water without getting a yeast infection or UTI?

Im looking at some sex positions in cosmo and im thinkin to myself, how do people have sex in water without feeling uncomfortable? I done that before and regretted it.. is there anyway that i can still do so without getting an infection from it or feeling uncomfortable? What do you think? How can i have sex in water without getting a yeast infection or UTI?Honestly, Cosmo is a really bad place to look for legitimate sex tips. Having sex in the water is bad idea for numerous reasons. There's the possibility of infections from all the bacteria in water that may be pushed inside you. There's the possibility of an infection from that water washing out your natural vaginal bacteria, which disrupts your balance and causes yeast/bacterial infections. There's the high likelihood that the water will wash away your lubricating fluids and make sex very uncomfortable. And then there's the idea of having not just water, but air accidentally pushed up inside of you, which can cause an aneurysm (air bubble in the brain/heart), and this can actually cause death.

It's a novel concept, but really not worth the risks or the hassle, don't you think? Human sex was just not designed to happen underwater.

The closest thing I can think of that would work would be laying over the edge of a pool side or stair or something, and having the guy stand in the water and thrust into you. Your genitals basically should be above water to make it feasible. How can i have sex in water without getting a yeast infection or UTI?divers do it all the time. thot i should mention that

Intercourse is the actual penetration. . . .at least that is what i think. What's the difference between intercourse and sex?

Its the same thing intercourse is the word the doctors use instead of saying sex, but it means the same thing.
same thing
Sex is participating in ANY sexual activity; Be it manual stimulation, oral stimulation, anal, or intercourse.

Intercourse is just one form of a sexual act.

Sex and intercourse have been confused to mean the same thing for two main (and severly outdated) reasons.

1) Intercourse is the only kind of sex had by some people who find other sexual acts indecient and/or immoral.

2) Boys have long falsey implied that if they didn't have intercourse, that they did not have sex, in order to get girls to go 'all the way'.

Intercourse can be sex, If it is the lone act. Sex can be had in a variety of ways that do not need to include intercourse.Sexual activity is sexual activity. Intercourse is but one piece to the puzzle.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Cheers :-)
they are just the same in meaning.

but its to awkward to use the word "sex"

its a Laymans term.

it would be better to use intercourse in writing
It is possible to have sex without intercourse.

Intercourse suggests a specific act. To my knowledge it means, insertion.

But sex, can be a variety of different things, including or not including intercourse. I won't get too descriptive here but I think you know what I mean.

Just remember that unless you are careful a baby can come from intercourse. But not all sex acts constitute that risk. be careful out there always, wear your rain coats.

And be true to yourself!

What some good books that has romance and sex in it?

I like to read books like that. I also like classic novels like Pride %26amp; Prejudice, Vanity Fair, etc. Oh and I also like novels like Stardust as well. I preferably would like the romance and sex though. What some good books that has romance and sex in it?I like Sherilyn Kenyon. What some good books that has romance and sex in it?
Since you like Pride and Prejudice along with some romance and sex, I suggest that you pick up something by Julia Quinn. She is a historical romance author.

Try 'Sin City' by Harold RobbinsWhat some good books that has romance and sex in it?Books by Catherine Coulter and Nora Roberts. They both write romance, but Coulter has written more historicals. The strange thing is that both have broken into the mainstream popular field and were at the start of women romance writers making the best seller's list.

I think coulter has a better sense of humor and is a bit steamier. What some good books that has romance and sex in it?
Memoirs of a geisha by Arthur Golden.
Hi. Saw this and thought I'd respond. Depends on what you're looking for. Not classic lit, but there are a lot of erotic romance books out there now, a lot of which are going where a lot of the more mainstream romances don't go. Not talking just kinky, but intriguing paranormals and futuristic romances you can't find in every bookstore. Some are e-pubbed, some in print. Try checking out these quality publishers: www.ellorascave.com, www.loose-id.com, and http://samhainpublishing.com. They let you read a blurb and excerpt, as well as give a "heat" rating, so you can see if you'd like the book or not. And feel free to check out www.marieharte.com, my website. :) I write erotic romance as well. Hope this helped.

Smiles, MarieWhat some good books that has romance and sex in it?
Rachel Gibson has both romance and sex in her books. My personal favorite of hers is Truly Madly Yours! Her other books that I recommend are See Jane Score, Tangled Up In You, Sex Lies and Online Dating, I'm not in the Mood for Love, and It Must be Love. I love all of her books but these are great starters.

Then another author I love is Kathy Love.Wanting Something More, Wanting What You Get, Getting what you want. These 3 books are part of a trilogy.

I hope that helps you find what you are looking for ;)
Sidney Sheldon wrote very interesting novels that have both mixed together; with a mystery thrown in - like The Other Side of Midnight.

Linda Howard writes some very good romances and romantic suspense novels like Dream Man; Kill and Tell; The MacKenzie family series starting with MacKenzie's Mountain; Mr. Perfect.

Christina Skye has a great romantic suspense series - Draycott Abbey series. There are quite a few in the series including: Hour of the Rose; Bridge of Dreams; Bride of the Mist; Key to Forever; Season of Wishes; Christmas Knight; The Perfect Gift.

Jo Beverley has a Malloren family series that is very good and includes both. The series includes such books as My Lady Notorious; Tempting Fortune; Something Wicked; etc.

Mary Jo Putney has two series that I really loved that also fits your criteria. The first is The Fallen Angels series which includes: Thunder and Roses; Petals in the Storm; Dancing on the Wind; Angel Rogue; Shattered Rainbows and more. The second is the Silk series including Silk and Shadows; Silk and Secrets; Veils of Silk.

Shelly Thacker has some good books, too. One that I really loved is her medieval time travel called Forever His.

Loretta Chase has several I liked, too: The Lion's Daughter; Lord of Scoundrels; Captives of the Night; The Last Hellion.

Catherine Coulter has a lot of books I really enjoyed. Her Sherbrooke Bride series - The Sherbrooke Bride, The Hellion Bride; The Heiress Bride, etc. - is excellent. I also enjoyed her Legacy series (The Wyndham Legacy; The Nightingale Legacy; The Valentine Legacy) and many others of her books.

Julie Garwood is another author that incorporates both; i.e., Prince Charming; For the Roses; Saving Grace; The Wedding; Honor's Splendour.

I also enjoyed quite a few of Jude Deveraux's books like her Velvet series with The Velvet Promise; Highland Velvet; Velvet Song and Velvet Angel.

There are any number of other really good writers whose books you may enjoy like Amanda Quick (who is also Jayne Ann Krentz); Mary Balogh; Catherine Anderson; Johanna Lindsey and Meagan McKinney.

What is the difference between the way boys and girls approach sex and intimacy?

I have a girlfriend that is bi and i don't know how she feels about sex. She says that girls turn her on also cuz she is bi but i am her boyfriend and i want to be the one that turns her on. Also, even though other guys dont turn me on at all, my girlfriend is trying to convince me that im bi deep down. I read somewhere that girls think about and approach sex and intimacy differently than boys. Can someone please explain in detail everything that i said? What is the difference between the way boys and girls approach sex and intimacy?to be honest..I think that it isn't about being girl or boy. But about the person itself.

Some like it hard, other stay with the basics...

I really hate to say because it's against my principles, but what I'm about to say now holds a bit of truth...

boys are more fixed on the f霉cking part,

while girls like the foreplay and it takes longer for them to reach an orgasm. What is the difference between the way boys and girls approach sex and intimacy?Just foreplay girls need.
