By this criteria, there is NOTHING immoral about gay sex and claiming that "next thing you know, people will be marrying their pets" is ridiculous.Where sex is concerned, should conservatives learn that CONSENT is the only moral issue?I've always felt this way as well. I consider myself very sexually liberated, and I really fail to see how sex itself is morally wrong. If two consenting people decide to have sex, fine. Big deal. Myself, I have slept with many people (of both sexes) and I find it really silly that people would call me a sIut or a whore. As long as consenting people are enjoying themselves, it's nobody's business what they are doing.

They are using the same logic to oppose gay marriage as they did to oppose interracial marriage. It's time they realize that marriage was around before Christianity was and that marriage is not defined as "a man and woman who will reproduce". Almost all 'slippery slope' arguments are stupid. We do write laws so that the slip doesn't happen, that's the purpose of written law.

Here is a thought though, law isn't necessarily the entire body of morals, its just the part of morality we legally enforce for the protection of the weaker party.

I don't think there is anything inherently immoral about homosexuality.

I don't think there should be laws against it.

But the morality of some religions says that it is, so they can remove a person from their flock if that's what they need to do, their morality says its sin, sin isn't necessarily law for the rest of the country to follow.

No, it is not! Certainly consent is very important, but having high morals in all aspect of life is also very important. Without morals, then just about anything goes. It is high morals that keep us out of trouble and that certainly included sex. For me having a child without being married is still really wrong. Wrong for the child and unfair for the child. When you do not have morals, children suffer.

What of those people who believe they are in a monogamous relationship, and end up being lied to by their partner. There are too many STD's out there for people to feel that consent should be the only issue, honesty with your partner(s) is another moral issue that is extremely important. Especially with the fact that there are STD's that can actually kill you.
Why are gays and other practitioners of sexual deviancy so bent on getting everyone to say that it's ok? Why should someone have to start calling what they know to be wrong, right? So that they don't make anyone mad?



People have the freedom to do what they like, but nobody has to start calling it a good thing if they don't want to. The constitution allows you to live your life, but there is no amendment that says others have to like or condone the way you live it.
This criteria is your criteria. Each person may have a different view of morality. Morals are created and defined by one's own conscience as well as society, philosophy, and religion. So to you consent may be the only issue. To others there may be other factors. Personally I am conservative and could care less what people do in their own bedroom. It is not up to me to judge another person. If you are referring to the gay marriage issue I am okay with it as long as it does not force churches to marry homosexuals if they feel it is improper and that the issue is decided by the states as it is a state issue. Conservatives hide behind morality when it comes to sex, yet they, at least many conservative politicians are some of the most immoral people when it comes to sex. Conservative politicians have been caught in in more sexual scandals than anyone. The joke is they have served on many committees about ethics and morality. The Newt was having an affair when he was impeaching Clinton. Another was soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom. Another was sending Congressional Pages sexually suggestive e-mails. Many have confessed to having affairs with other women. Conservatives pretend to live by how moral they are and all the ethics they have, while the truth is they have none. Think about WHY gays want marriage- it's all about benefits for the partner. Is it moral for gay men to raise a child- instead of 2 people of the opposite sex modeling gender roles? It's different when kids are involved.

Liberals promote and defend people for ALL of the above. They gave a standing ovation to a guy for refusing to accept any sanction for drugging and @ssraping MINORS, a charge that was never so much as disputed.

There is no reasonable standard of consent obtainable from someone with a mental pathology. According to the very people responsible for getting homosexuality de-listed as such, it IS in fact. They were on the radio declaring their pride in accomplishing their goal despite ALL of the evidence and science being against them.
I see nothing wrong with this argument. As long as it's consenting between two adults, there is no problem. If the conservatives want to preach about keeping the government out of our private lives, the least they can do is sell what they preach.
